Solano Blanks Laney 7-0 Behind Strong Pitching and Late Surge
Oakland, Calif. — Solano College closed out its series against Laney College with a dominant 7-0 road victory on April 24, using a balanced offensive attack and a combined four-hit shutout on the mound.
After three scoreless innings, Solano broke through in the fourth inning with three runs to take control. The Falcons added four more runs in the ninth to put the game away.
Dylan Snider led the offense with a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Dom Christensen also drove in three runs while collecting two hits, including a sacrifice fly.
At the top of the lineup, Chase Lewis went 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Jace Parkinson added a hit, a walk, and scored a run. Bryce Alcantara crossed the plate twice, and Teo Copp scored once with a hit and walk.
On the mound, Kai Koizumi earned the win with six shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out two. He worked around four walks and kept Laney off the scoreboard all afternoon.
The bullpen finished the job as Gabriel Navarrette tossed two scoreless innings, and Amari Bryant closed the ninth to complete the shutout.
Laney managed only four hits in the game and stranded eight runners, while Solano took advantage of five Laney errors to help create opportunities.
With the win, Solano continued its strong finish to the regular season and showed complete control in all phases of the game. Playoffs will occur May 1-3, TBD.
