Solano Baseball Explodes Late in 18–11 Win at Los Medanos
PITTSBURG, CA — The Solano College Falcons broke open a tight game with a late offensive surge to defeat Los Medanos College 18–11 on March 12, piling up 18 hits and scoring 15 runs over the final three innings.
Solano trailed early after Los Medanos jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the first inning. The Falcons chipped away at the deficit in the second and third innings. Bryce Alcantara drove in the first run on a groundout in the second, and RBI hits from James Burgess and Teo Copp in the third tied the game at 3–3.
Los Medanos briefly regained control with two runs in the sixth to take a 5–3 lead, but the Falcons responded with their biggest inning of the day in the seventh.
Burgess started the rally with an RBI double before Mason Sayre tied the game with an RBI single. A Los Medanos error allowed two more runs to score, and a sacrifice fly from Joey Mason capped a five-run inning that put Solano ahead 8–5.
The Falcons kept the pressure on in the eighth inning, adding four more runs behind RBI hits from Copp, Cayne Hill, Joey Mason, and Jace Parkinson to extend the lead to 12–5.
Solano put the game out of reach in the ninth, erupting for six runs. Seth Tjaden delivered a pinch-hit RBI single, Parkinson drove in another run with a double, and Michael Rivera sealed the rally with a two-run single to push the Falcons’ total to 18 runs.
Rivera led the offensive attack, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Copp also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Sayre reached base five times and scored four runs while collecting three hits, including a triple. Parkinson added three hits and two RBIs, while Burgess scored three runs and drove in two.
Behind the plate, Joey Mason delivered three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly during the decisive seventh-inning rally.
On the mound, Jared Orabuena started for Solano and worked six innings, striking out seven while allowing five runs on six hits. Zach O’Reilly pitched a scoreless seventh inning in relief, and Amari Bryant finished the final two frames.
Los Medanos mounted a late push with three runs in both the eighth and ninth innings, but the Falcons offensive outburst proved too much to overcome.
With the win, Solano showcased one of its most explosive offensive performances of the season, combining timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and pressure on the Los Medanos defense, which committed six errors in the game.
The Falcons will look to carry that momentum into their final game of the 3 game series at home Saturday.
