Bio
Lili Belton – Assistant Softball Coach & Recruiting Coordinator
Coach Liliana Belton joined the Solano College softball staff in Fall of 2025 as Lead Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, bringing a unique blend of playing experience, mental performance expertise, and a deep passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
She is currently pursuing her Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification—a continuation of her graduate school commitment to athlete mental health and performance—integrating these skills into her daily coaching to strengthen both the physical and mental side of the game.
A Bay Area native, she attended Alhambra High School in Martinez, CA. Belton’s journey in colligiate softball began at McCook Community College (NJCAA DI) before returning home to Diablo Valley College (3C2A), and eventually transferring to Westcliff University (NAIA). Known for her versatility as a utility player, she embraced roles at third base, outfield, and beyond—always focused on doing what was best for her team. Her collegiate journey was marked by perseverance through injuries, pandemic-related disruptions, and personal trials and tribulations, ultimately shaping her into a resilient leader.
After initially stepping away from the game in 2022 after receiving her Bachelor's in Business Administration from Westcliff, Belton earned her Master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from California Baptist University. She returned to Westcliff University in 2024 for her final season of eligibility—and playing not for stats or accolades, but to enjoy the game in its purest form. She received a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Leadership. This return deepened her perspective on sport, gratitude, and the athlete experience.
Belton’s coaching style is grounded in the belief that adversity can be transformed into opportunity. She strives to instill in her athletes the value of gratitude, hard work, and mental resilience. With a focus on communication and empathy, she empowers players to be their authentic selves while holding them accountable and disciplined, fostering both personal growth on and off the field.
Her coaching philosophy centers on discipline, mental toughness, gratitude, and fostering a competitive, connected program built on Solano’s “Four Pillars of Success.”
Belton is also a music enthusiast, a Star Wars fan, grew up a Giants (baseball) and 49er fan. She values quality time with her friends and family and playing with her two cats.
