The Solano College women’s basketball team earned a hard-fought 77–74 victory over Los Medanos on Friday evening, using a strong fourth-quarter push to secure the home win.
The game was tightly contested from the opening tip. Los Medanos held a slim 16–15 edge after the first quarter, and the teams went into halftime nearly even, with Solano trailing just 34–33. Both squads continued to trade baskets in the third quarter, as each scored 19 points, setting up a decisive final period.
Solano rose to the moment in the fourth quarter, outscoring Los Medanos 24–21. Timely stops on defense and key free throws down the stretch proved to be the difference as the Falcons closed out the three-point win.
Jaylen Kuehnel led Solano with a game-high 27 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Natalia Sanchez added 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting, while Lucia Alexander contributed 22 points, giving Solano three players with 22 or more points. Ciara Miller anchored the paint with a team-high nine rebounds, helping Solano finish with a 38–29 advantage on the glass.
