Bio

 

Darla Williams joined Solano College as Head Women's Volleyball Coach in 2003. Since then, she has led the Falcons to Bay Valley Conference (BVC) Championships 10 times (2006, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025), and runner-up finishes seven times (2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016). The 2019 title saw a perfect 14-0 record in conference play without dropping a set. In the Bay Valley Conference, the team has a 106-1 record since 2016.   Williams has an overall coaching record of 604-299 (38th year as a head volleyball coach), 406-200 overall record at Solano College and is 252-52 in BVC conference play, earning nine BVC Coach of the Year nods (2006, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025). 

Williams began her varsity high school coaching career at Vintage High School in Napa from 1991-96, before moving to Will C. Wood High School from 1996-03. While at the helm, Wood won two MEL crowns and was a NorCal State qualifier in 2001.  She finished her high school coaching career with a 188-87 overall record.  She was inducted into the WCW Athletics Hall of Fame in Spring 2022.  

Coach Williams earned her AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Sierra College.  At Sierra College, in Spring 2008, she was honored and named into the Sierra College Athletics Hall of Fame. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1988 before adding a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from La Verne University in 1991. Williams also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Kinesiology from St. Mary's College in 1995.  

Darla retired in 2026 as the head coach and will assist as a volunteer.
